Kavitha Surana

Night General Assignment Reporter

I cover everything that happens after dark in the Tampa Bay area — and then some. I love being a reporter because it means my job is to ask questions and to talk to people from all walks of life. I’m always working to uncover the stories behind the “story” and hold powerful institutions to account. When I’m not out reporting in the community, you can usually find me digging into public records or scouring the internet for sources. My past reporting has taken me to some far-flung places, from Italy and Germany to Rwanda and the U.S.-Mexico border. Now my energy is focused on getting to know the hidden pockets of Tampa Bay. If you’d like to teach me something about this area — maybe show me a day in your life or tell me about something that’s not right in your community — drop me a line at ksurana@tampabay.com. You can also reach me securely on Signal at 646-463-1817. También puedes contactarte conmigo en español.
