SMALLER STEPS: To Write Love on Her Arms

Jamie Tworkowski is trying something new. The founder of To Write Love on Her Arms — a Melbourne-based, music-adjacent organization that combats suicide and self-harm, especially among teens — is taking his outreach effort on a short southeastern tour, as opposed to the much larger lectures he’s used to giving. "The music community and even club shows, club tours that happen in smaller venues, was a big part of our story early on," he said recently. "But it’s not something we’ve done with the organization as the headliner." Tworkowski’s appearance alongside poet Sierra DeMulder and musician JP Saxe at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Attic, 1510 E Eighth Ave., might show how To Write Love can grow its outreach in its 13th year and beyond. You don’t have to have thoughts of self-harm to get something out of the show. "We just want people to be encouraged," he said. "We want to do more than entertain people or sell a T-shirt. For us, a win is someone ending up sitting with a counselor the next day or the next week after this show." $15 and up. more with Jamie TworkowskiJay Cridlin, Times pop music critic

SCARE FAIR: Halloween Horror Nights

The biggest Halloween event in Florida, Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights, gets started early, runs into November and costs a fortune if you want to skip the very long lines for the haunted houses. But some 300,000 people are expected to flock to the park between the kickoff on Friday through its end on Nov. 3. The big draw this year is a brand new maze inspired by the Netflix hit Stranger Things. But it’s just one of 10 mazes planned for the record-breaking 35 nights of horror. Other classics include Poltergeist, Trick ’r Treat, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, Revenge of Chuckyand KillerKlownsFromOuterSpace, and the Horrors of Blumhouse will feature scenes from The First Purge andHappy Death Day. Check the schedule when purchasing tickets because it gets more expensive later in October. $62.99 and up.

Wild ’N Out Live: Nick Cannon

Over the course of 12 seasons on MTV and MTV2, the Nick Cannon Wild ’N Out comedy and music show has built a rabid fan base that brought the show back to the air, each time by popular demand. Now the comedian (and ex-husband of Mariah Carey) is taking it to the stage. At 8 p.m. Sunday at Amalie Arena, the original cast from the comedy variety show, including Rip Michaels, Charlie Clips and Michael Blackson, will play along with the audience in the most popular game segments, such as Family Reunion and the rap battle game Pick Up and Kill It. $31.75-$145.75. 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa. (813) 301-2500.
