WIMAUMA — Deputies have found and arrested a man caught on surveillance video setting fire to a porch.

The incident took place just after midnight on Thursday at a home on the 16000 block of Carlton Lake Road, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say Jeffery Tomko, 27, ignited the unknown substance inside a bottle and left it on the porch. The device caused what appeared to be a small explosion.

The man then ran west away from the home. A neighbor alerted the home’s resident to the burning porch, who deputies said briefly chased the suspect before coming back to extinguish the fire with a garden hose.

The fire caused about $100 in damage to the home, deputies said.

Deputies say they found and arrested Tomko in Manatee County on Thursday afternoon.
