The man and woman who were wounded are still recovering from their injuries, but only one of them has been released from a hospital. The Sheriff’s Office withheld their names and ages, citing Marsy’s Law, which is a constitutional amendment designed to protect crime victims.

The shooting took place at about 12:15 a.m. in the parking lot of Kennedy Park at 899 Kennedy Blvd., according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies found a man with gunshot wounds, and he was taken to a local trauma center by Hernando County Fire Rescue. A woman was taken to a local hospital by a personal vehicle, but paramedics later took her to a trauma center.

The shooter left the area before deputies arrived. No other information about the case was released.
