A 62-year-old man died Saturday night after driving his car off the road and into a tree.

Jeffery Paul Leeman of New Port Richey was headed southbound on Paradise Pointe Way near Tournament View Avenue about 8:20 p.m., according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

For reasons that remain unclear, Leeman's car drifted off the road and onto the grass median. The car then crashed into a tree.

Responding authorities took Leeman to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, where he died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Alcohol was not suspected to have been a factor in the crash, the release said.
