Indians’ Josh Donaldson pulls young fan out of stands to play catch at the Trop

It's not every day a young fan gets to play catch with a major leaguer on a big-league field.

But 8-year-old Ethan Ortega got that opportunity Wednesday at Tropicana Field, when the Indians' Josh Donaldson pulled him out of the stands and exchanged throws with him near the visiting dugout before the game against the Rays.

When they were finished, Donaldson lifted Ortega back up over the guardrail and into the stands, then signed an autographed baseball for him: "To Ethan. Thanks for playing catch."

While Ortega is a Rays fan, his father, Nick, told Indians blog Tribe Vibe that Ethan is "a baseball fan first and foremost" and "enjoys watching the Indians play a lot."

"Ethan has been trying to get to JD during spring training in Dunedin as well as his rehab assignment," Nick Ortega says in the story. "Mr. Donaldson made his dream come true yesterday, and I will be eternally grateful for that."
