Mural Reveal: Val's Home Decor
Val's Home Decor has been open in Tampa since 1989, with a warehouse chock full of home decor for any style. It's a go-to for interior designers, real estate agents for home staging, brides and florists. But what I appreciate most is that owner Valerie Harding has commissioned local artist duo Illsol (Michelle Sawyer and Tony Krol) to paint a mural on the outside of the building. The grand reveal is at 2 p.m. today, with gifts for every guest, tours around the store and killer photo ops in front of the mural. 3920 Gunn Highway. valshomedecor.com.
Extra, Extra: New Market News
Another new night market launches today with the Urban Street Fair on the Esplanade at Tampa City Center. In addition to artists, makers and fashion vendors, the event will feature music and street performers, all changing monthly. 6-10 p.m. 201 N Franklin St. tampanightmarket.com.
Hit up a number of Tampa markets on Saturday on the Market Hop, with a free ride on the TECO line streetcar for drop off points at the Maven Market (Channel District), Centro Ybor Market (Ybor) and the Ybor Saturday Market (Ybor). Free. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday. Centennial Park, 1800 E Eighth Ave., Tampa. (813) 394-7823.
Sparkly Benefit: Diamonds in the Ruff
Need a little more sparkle in your life? Head over to Kozuba and Sons Distillery on Friday for Diamonds in the Ruff, a jewelry event that benefits Pet Pal Animal Shelter. Shop new and gently used fine and costume jewelry made by local artists, at prices that won't land you in the doghouse. It's free to attend, but you probably won't be able to pass up a premium cocktail distilled in house. Food truck Smokin Guns BBQ will be on deck, plus samples from CA Cafe, Pet Food Warehouse and the Pinellas Chocolate Company. Dog and kid friendly. 6-9 p.m. 1960 Fifth Ave. S, St. Petersburg. kozubadistillery.com.
